For over 70 years, FMDM sisters have walked with Zimbabwean communities, sharing God’s love through healthcare, education, pastoral care, and spiritual accompaniment. From Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, they embody the Franciscan spirit, empowering lives, strengthening faith, and offering hope through service and compassion.
La Verna - Victoria Falls
The sisters host the Congregation’s Novitiate, welcoming and accompanying women as they discern in their Franciscan lives. Their mission extends to parish work, youth outreach, and community empowerment. By nurturing faith and offering spiritual accompaniment, this community sustains hope and prepares future missionaries.

Mater Dei - Bulawayo
The Mater Dei community in Bulawayo carries the legacy of the first FMDM sisters in Zimbabwe, who built and managed Mater Dei Hospital. Today, sisters remain active in healthcare, chaplaincy, and parish ministry, while also offering retreats, spiritual direction, and support for families. Their witness reflects a lasting commitment to compassionate service.
